Over the last few months, I have been working out of Dogpatch Labs trying to figure out what my next challenge would be. I met with a bunch of people, worked on a few startup ideas and built a prototype. But, after all that, I found an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.

Today, I am very excited to say I have joined SecondMarket as their Head of Product. Barry and the team at SecondMarket have created an amazing company, I am looking forward to contributing to its future success. When I evaluate companies, I notice a number of leading indicators for companies bound for greatness. SecondMarket exhibits many of these:

Great Team – Everyone on SecondMarket’s management team is great, and has a clear vision for what the company can achieve.

Transparency & Efficiency – I have a love for marketplaces and market dynamics. It is very exciting to find an opportunity to leverage technology to increase transparency and reduce friction in a massive market. SecondMarket is fundamentally improving marketplaces that are, frankly, broken with its new approach.

Big Markets – Anytime a company’s addressable market can be described with a ‘T’, as in Trillions, you know you are in the right business. SecondMarket improves markets with Trillions of dollars in assets.

New York-centric – It is rare to find a company that is so well matched with its location. New York is the ideal location for SecondMarket to reach its full potential. Its proximity to financial markets and great technical talent make NYC the perfect place to build this amazing company.

Given these compelling factors, SecondMarket is one of the most exciting startup opportunities I have seen. I am looking forward to getting started with Barry and the team to see where the adventure leads.
